Hello there! I’m a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Carnegie Mellon University, where I’m advised by Prof. Gauri Joshi. I have also previously been a student research intern with Google Research NYC.
My research interests evolve approximately every three months, shaped by inspiring interactions with fellow PhD students Currently, I’m interested in the algorithmic and theoretical foundations of:
- Post training/RL Scaling, Continual Learning, and Self-Improvement
- Alignment and Scalable Oversight
In the past I have worked on online learning, game theory, coding theory, and distributed learning.
Before joining CMU, I was an Electrical Engineering undergrad at IIT Bombay, advised by Prof. Nikhil Karamchandani. I was also a visiting student at the Connectivity Section at Aalborg University, where I worked with Prof. Petar Popovski.
While I am not working/thinking about AI (pacing the frontier), I enjoy learning about philosophy, human behavior, military aviation and space exploration. I also like skiing, weightlifting and swimming.
You can reach out at anupamn@andrew.cmu.edu if you’re interested in collaborating or discussing research!
